Follow these simple steps to return or exchange your item(s):

2—Bring Invoice & Item(s) to Store
If you wish to return or exchange any portion of your order, please bring a copy of the invoice you received with your package.
3—Return or Exchange
If you are returning an item, you will be given store credit for the full amount you paid for the item, including taxes.
*Concession locations does not accept in-store returns.
Return by Mail
1—Complete Return Form
If you wish to return or exchange any portion of your order, please complete the Return Form and include it with your return shipment.

2—Authorize
Be sure to sign and date the Return Form. Exchanges will be processed as a new order.
*Your original form of payment will be refunded, and then charged for the replacement.
3—Repack Merchandise
Be sure to sign and date the Return Form. Exchanges will be processed as a new order.

Our Policy
  • American Apparel unconditionally guarantees all products purchased at full price from our Online Store for 45 days from the date of purchase.
  • If you're not satisfied with the fit, quality, color, or size of an item, don't hesitate to return it, and choose any item in another size or color. We will gladly replace any item that you're not completely happy with.
  • Final sale and sale items excluded - please see limitation list.
Please note the following limitations:
  • Items must be returned within 45 days of purchase.
  • The following items are final sale, and cannot be returned:
  • Swimwear
  • Bodysuits
  • Unitards
  • Intimates
  • Sale items
  • California Select
  • Vintage
  • Cosmetic and Grooming products
  • Some pieces by American Apparel are sold with intentional imperfections. If you are not sure if your item is intentionally imperfect, please contact customer service.
  • Items that have been laundered or altered in any way, cannot be accepted for exchange or return.
  • Items purchased from any retail store cannot be returned to the Online Store.
  • Any item that was not purchased at full price cannot be returned. This includes both sale and promotional items.
Refunds
  • You will be credited the amount you paid for the returned item(s), including taxes.
  • The original shipping charge is not refunded.
  • You are responsible for the return shipping. American Apparel does not take responsibility for any returned packages that are lost or stolen. For return packages valued over £50, we suggest you request a Track & Confirm shipping option.
Exchanges
  • You will be credited the amount for the returned item(s), including taxes.
  • When exchanging items, we refund the difference to the card used to make the original purchase. If the amount of the exchange item exceeds that of the original, the difference will be charged to the same card.
  • You are responsible for the return shipping. American Apparel does not take responsibility for any returned packages that are lost or stolen. For return packages valued over £50, we suggest you request a Track & Confirm shipping option.
